This project is led by Professor Liang Cunzhu of Inner Mongolia University, and carried out research jointly with the Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing Normal University, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Ningxia University, Northwest Institute of Ecological Environment and Resources of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Inner Mongolia Mengcao Ecological Environment (Group) Co., Ltd., Institute of Agricultural Environment and Sustainable Development of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other units. In response to the serious degradation of grasslands in northern China, the weakening of ecological security and grassland production functions, and the underdevelopment of ecological animal husbandry and ecological industries, we have developed and demonstrated comprehensive management technologies and policies for desertification degraded grasslands. Through the restoration and sustainable use of degraded grasslands, we aim to achieve a win-win or multi win situation for environmental improvement and the prosperity of the people. The project mainly focuses on the dry grasslands, desert grasslands, and natural grasslands in the central and western regions of Inner Mongolia. Based on the assessment of desertification grassland degradation mechanisms and ecosystem services, the project focuses on the research and demonstration of degraded grassland restoration, ecological animal husbandry, and grassland development technologies. The main innovation is ecological industry technology integration and demonstration, and the main achievement transformation mechanism is technology demonstration and technology promotion.
